About your role

As a Tradesperson – Electrician, you will play a vital role in maintaining critical electrical infrastructure and equipment to support safe, high-quality patient care at Princess Alexandra Hospital and other Metro South Health facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical infrastructure and equipment in a large healthcare environment
  • Performing electrical testing, compliance checks and fault finding
  • Undertaking HV and LV switching and safe isolations
  • Maintaining pumps, compressors and other plant and equipment
  • Managing work priorities, timeframes and costs with minimal supervision
  • Using S/4HANA and maintenance systems to manage work orders and track tasks

About you

You are a qualified and safety-focused Electrician with experience working in complex environments and a strong commitment to quality, teamwork and patient safety.

You will bring:

  • Electrical trade qualifications recognised in Queensland
  • A current Queensland Electrical Fitter/Mechanic licence
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems in large facilities (healthcare desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety legislation, standards and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to participate in on-call arrangements and work across multiple sites

Princess Alexandra Hospital:

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.

We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres. The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.

We're expanding our hospital to make sure everyone gets the care they need. We're adding more beds, modernising our buildings, and improving our spaces to treat kidney and cancer patients with all new services and facilities planned to open by 2027.
