About your opportunity:
The purpose of the Anaesthetic Registered Nurse is to provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients, anaesthetists and nursing staff within the Operating Theatre ensuring the provision of best practice and quality patient care. A combination of 10, 9 and 6 hour shifts are rostered to ensure anaesthetic nursing coverage to all theatre lists. Continuous shift work and rostering to the on call roster is mandatory for staff.
Please note, the position is permanent part-time, hours negotiable.
About the unit:
The Townsville University Operating Theatre has 15 operating theatres including a Hybrid Theatre. The service offers of the Townsville University Hospital include the following disciplines.
- Cardiac
- Neurosurgery
- Vascular
- Thoracic
- Ear, Nose and Throat
- Plastic Reconstruction Surgery
- Maxillary Facial, Oral Surgery and Dental
- Urology
- Orthopaedics
- Trauma
- Hepatobiliary, Gastrointestinal and Breast Endocrine
- Ophthalmology
- Paediatrics
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Kidney Transplant
In addition, the Anaesthetic team provides anaesthetic support to outlying departments including Medical Imaging, Brachytherapy, Endoscopy, Cardiac Cathlab, Interventional Radiology and Mental Health.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer a generous pro rata remuneration package (based on full-time equivalent value) up to $109,330 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range: $42.98 to $55.13 p.h. (NG5)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available and generous leave entitlements
Role Requirements:
- Mandatory qualification (Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent) and registration with AHPRA.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted, including criminal history clearance.
