The Senior Sports Scientist (Physiology) - Swimming role will be responsible for the design and implementation of swimming physiology support aimed at maximising the
physical performance of nationally categorised athletes within QAS High Performance Swimming program/s on the Gold Coast, while also supporting the overall program delivery by liaising closely with the Head Coach/es and members of the Performance Support team/s.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide expert evidence-based Physiology servicing and advice to the athletes and coaches at the Gold Coast High Performance Program and Small Athlete Programs in line with each swimmer's Athlete Plan which is aligned with the swimming What IT Takes To Win (WITTW) framework.
• Deliver specific and relevant performance testing and monitoring for categorised athletes and provide timely and impactful feedback to the Coaches, Athletes and
Performance Support Team members.
• Work collaboratively as part of a high performing team, establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to identify, lead and deliver high quality integrated outcomes.
• Contribute to the development of Athlete Plans and regularly review the associated specific development priorities and performance metrics to measure progress.
• Work closely with the relevant Swimming Australia discipline leads to ensure world-class Physiology support is being delivered in the Hub program
• Undertake domestic and international travel as required to support athlete preparation and performance at training camps and competitions.
• Lead and manage other Physiologists and other staff as required by the Hub Manager. This includes undertaking 1:1 meetings, setting and reviewing SMART performance objectives and supporting professional development needs.
