This is a temporary full-time role up to 30/06/2026. PLEASE NOTE - There is a possibility of an extension dependent on ongoing funding.

About the opportunity  

The Clinical Nurse (CN) - Clinical Integrator within Clinical Education Services (CES) plays a pivotal role in supporting the professional growth and development of graduate nurses and midwives. Working collaboratively with Nurse Educators, Clinical Coaches, and clinical areas, the CN - Clinical Integrator provides hands-on guidance, facilitates transition support, and promotes safe, high-quality practice during the graduate year.

The CN – Clinical Integrator is responsible for mentoring graduates at the point of care, assisting with performance management processes, and promoting open communication. They ensure accurate documentation of progress using performance review tools aligned with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) standards and Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) governance frameworks. Through role modelling, supportive feedback, and reflective practice, the CN – Clinical Integrator fosters confidence, accountability, and resilience in early-career clinicians. By embedding a positive learning culture and facilitating collaborative partnerships, the CN - Clinical Integrator ensures graduates are equipped to deliver safe, competent, and compassionate care across THHS.

This is a temporary part-time, commencing ASAP up to 6 months, working 48 hours per fortnight. 

About the department

CES provides integrated nursing and midwifery education and support across THHS. A team of advanced Clinical Nurses and Midwives delivers point-of-care mentoring, builds Clinical Partner capability via the Clinical Partnership Model, and coordinates Graduate Nurse & Midwifery workshops, assessments, and learning frameworks. Working independently and together to ensure consistent education and a skilled, capable workforce aligned with THHS's vision and purpose.

  • Salary range: $56.08 - $60.05  p.f.  (NG6-1)
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading

  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to possess an appropriate license to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle. Verification of license must be provided prior to commencement of duty.
  • Travel: This position may be required to travel to (via small planes or ferry), and work at, other facilities located within the THHS, e.g., participate in clinical activities or meetings for planning, quality, performance and education. This may involve day and/or overnight stays. The successful applicant must be able to commit to this requirement.
  • Highly Desirable:
    • Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
    • Working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, e.g., Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix and Power Point.
