Looking for a permanent role as Ranger (Assets)?

Are you passionate about protecting Queensland's natural areas and skilled in managing infrastructure and assets? We're seeking a motivated and practical individual to join our team as an OO5 Ranger (Assets). Based in Charters Towers, Townsville, Hughenden, or Airlie Beach, you will travel regularly to various protected areas and State forests across central and northwest Queensland, working in some of the State's most remote locations and stunning environments.

In these roles, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and reporting on infrastructure and asset programs. You will develop and coordinate the annual maintenance program for ranger bases and visitor infrastructure. Depending on the task, you may lead teams, collaborate with others, or work independently.

Travel is a key part of the role, and you will often work and camp in remote and sometimes isolated locations. The role operates on a roster, which may include weekend work. You will also support operational teams with fire management duties, including bushfire suppression, and assist with other emergency response situations.

To succeed in this position, you will need to be organised, practical, and comfortable working in outdoor environments. A reasonable level of physical fitness is required to meet the demands of this role.

While there are no formal tertiary qualifications required, a White Card for Construction is essential. Construction-related experience, particularly in procurement and managing small to medium-scale construction projects, is highly desirable. A current, unrestricted manual driver's licence is mandatory, as you will be required to drive government vehicles, including four-wheel drives, as part of your daily and fieldwork duties.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to preserving Queensland's natural heritage while enjoying a rewarding and challenging career. If this sounds like the role for you, we'd love to hear from you!

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
