Connectivity Services team in CITEC Integration and Enabling Technologies within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business provides operational support, project delivery, design and consultancy services for CITEC and its customer’s communications networks and associated services.
This also includes service design and management for whole of government services. We offer our services 24/7 and at various client sites. We use automated tools and roster staff for on-call to support our after-hours commitments. Connectivity Services are looking for an Operations Manager to manage and lead a team of innovative technical experts in the daily operational support of complex network environments for CITEC’s clients and provide expertise and advice to achieve specified business outcomes.

The Connectivity Services team in CITEC Integration and Enabling Technologies business unit within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business provides and manages critical network solutions for the Queensland Government, including the Queensland Government Regional Network (QGRN), Queensland Government Network (QGN), Queensland Ambulance Dispatch Network (ADN) Whole-of-Government ISP, SD-WAN, Cloud Connect, Data Centre Networks, and the CITEC Network Operations Centre (NOC).
Connectivity Services provides managed network services, web application firewall (WAF) protection, and inter-department connectivity, along with operational support, project delivery, design, and consultancy services. Operating 24/7 with automated tools and on-call support, Connectivity Services ensures secure, reliable and scalable connectivity to enable efficient government operations and digital services.
The primary purpose of the position is to lead a team of technical experts in the daily operational support of CITEC's clients and provide expertise and advice to achieve specified business outcomes.
As the Operations Manager, you will:
• Lead the team in the delivery of daily operational support to clients in order to achieve specified CITEC business and strategic objectives.
• Provide specialist advice to support the preparation of tender responses, quotations and resource planning requirements.
• Understand the end to end connectivity of CITEC's services being managed and the operational and security risks associated.
• Lead team members through complex problem solving of service delivery issues and design and implement tools, procedures and responses for their resolution.
• Forecast budget estimates and proactively manage the revenue and costs for the unit to achieve commercial goals.
• Develop and implement process and service standards, measures and performance indicators to deliver continuous service improvements to clients.
• Liaise with external and internal service providers to ensure seamless service delivery to CITEC clients.
• Implement and manage effective human resource management practices including staff development, performance management and workforce planning.
• Promote an effective workplace culture by capturing and sharing knowledge, supporting common procedures and practices and encouraging a learning environment.
• Accurately document and communicate team successes and specific monthly metrics to the Director.
The role requires applicants to have:
• Experience in leading and managing a dedicated team that is delivering and maintaining complex network environments is essential.
• Extensive work experience in a service delivery environment of a managed service provider (MSP) environment and/or enterprise network system administration is highly desirable
