The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is seeking a Manager to join the Governance and Policy Unit. The Governance and Policy Unit is responsible for managing a range of administrative, governance and regulation activities to support the delivery of the key accountabilities of a statutory authority. The Manager Governance and Policy leads a team responsible for overseeing the QCAA’s governance framework and policy development function, and for coordinating relationships with key external stakeholders, including support for the QCAA Board and its committees.

What you will do

In the Manager role, you will:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a fit for purpose and robust governance framework with strategies, policies, and guidelines that ensure sound decision-making and establish accountability.
  • Manage the interface between the QCAA's public service office and its Board, committees and key external stakeholders.
  • Assist the senior management team in the preparation and implementation of the agency strategic planning and divisional operational planning processes.
  • Lead the timely preparation of high quality reports, briefings and correspondence for senior management and QCAA Board members on a range of complex issues.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior management in policy and governance related to the operation of the agency, such as QCAA's role in delivery of transnational education. Develop work plans and formulate innovative and workable policy options and solutions.
  • Lead the effective management of the agency Risk Framework, Risk Register and related strategies and mechanisms including development of business impact analyses.
  • Lead provision of compliant and accurate records management across the agency.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, internal and external stakeholders, including senior officials from government and non-government agencies at the local, state and national levels, including managing highly sensitive issues with tact, discretion and strict confidentiality.
  • Represent the organisation at interagency meetings and forums and contribute to interagency projects.
  • Ensure the work of the unit complements the roles and responsibilities of other units engaged in related activities for seamless delivery of outcomes.
