The Central Queensland Team covers an area from Bloomsbury in the north, to Miriam Vale in the south and west to the Northern Territory and South Australian borders. Within that region the team is responsible for delivery of all DTET programs across employment and training. This includes proactive and reactive training visits and assisting Queenslanders into employment through a range of programs.
The Mackay office is primarily responsible for service delivery in the Mackay and Isaac Local Government Areas, with day to day and overnight/multi-night travel required to these areas, the rest of the region and other areas of Queensland as required.
About the role:
As the Team Leader Regional Programs, you will:
• Manage programs that support the implementation of government and departmental initiatives, including regional responsibility for the oversight, delivery and implementation of these programs, with a focus on the training, skills and employment
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team to achieve regional and departmental priorities, while supporting regional service delivery in a dynamic environment. This includes setting work priorities and deadlines, managing performance, allocating workloads and building team capability to deliver a high-quality service to the regional community.
• Engage with key stakeholders to promote department programs and initiatives and take a leadership role in establishing and maintaining local networking arrangements.
• Establish and maintain relationships and partnerships that enhance regional service delivery, drive increased participation in department programs, and support an inclusive and collaborative, whole-of-Government approach to job creation, workforce issues and vocational education and training (VET).
What we are looking for:
The position requires an applicant who can:
• Provide leadership and guidance to staff, with the ability to foster an outcomes focused workplace environment and culture of continuous improvement through effective communication, performance and capability development and flexible workplace management practices.
• Oversee the completion of programs and projects within agreed resource, time and budget constraints and take accountability to ensure outcomes and deliverables are achieved.
• Manage external relationships with key stakeholders including government departments, industry, schools and community organisations, and represent the region at local events, forums or meetings to ensure the department is well-recognised and positively regarded.
