Role details
The Health Information Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Senior Clinical Coder to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
As a senior clinical coder, this is an opportunity to work in a team environment to ensure that clinical coding is completed accurately and in a timely manner, to ensure MHHS achieves the correct funding and meets all reporting requirements.
While the main office for the Health Information Service is at the Mackay Base Hospital, the Senior Clinical Coder has the opportunity to complete this role remotely.
About the Team
The Clinical Coding Service is within the Health Information Service organisational structure. Clinical Coding is a method of abstracting clinical data based on the diagnoses and interventions of each inpatient episode of care. This data is abstracted for the whole clinical record episode of care including Discharge Summary, Progress Notes, Operation Reports, Reference to investigation results including pathology, pharmacy and radiology. Clinical Coding is an essential part of the process in the collection and extraction of patient information for financial, statistical and clinical management purposes.
