Role details

The Pharmacy team at the Bowen Hospital is seeking applications for a Senior Pharmacist to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

  • The purpose of this position is to provide pharmaceutical services to the facilities within the Bowen Health Service and to ensure compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service standards. 
  • The Senior Pharmacist, Bowen, is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective provision of both clinical and managerial pharmaceutical services, in line with contemporary standards and requirements, to all clients of the Bowen Hospital and provides outreach services to Collinsville Multi-purpose Health Service. They are expected to actively participate and contribute as a clinical pharmacist in professional and /or multidisciplinary teams within the Bowen Health Service.

About the Team

Bowen is located at the top of the Whitsundays and the local hospital offers breath taking views of the surrounding blue seas and stunning local beaches. The Bowen Hospital is a busy rural facility consisting of 17 acute beds which offer several specialty inpatient and outpatients services. The hospital also has an Oncology Unit that operates with 3 treatment chairs and provides care for patients requiring chemotherapy and medical infusions. This unit operates under telehealth support from specialist located in tertiary site around Queensland.

The hospital has recently been refurbished with a new state of the art Emergency Department. The ED also offers a range of speciality clinics as well as acute care of critically ill patients and link to air retrievals through RSQ. The ED is equipped with leading edge technology to provide the highest level of care and comfort to our patients. 

The Bowen Hospital also provides telehealth support for a range of speciality. This service assists patient with medical conditions to have speciality consultation without having to travel long distances.t / Team / Department
