About us:
Is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, now providing integrated cancer care services in Central Queensland in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment. The otherprimary hospitals within the health service are Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon and Biloela together with many smaller rural units transfer patients through to Rockhampton for specialist care and investigation.
About the role:
- Attend to presenting patients, family members, general public, police and ambulance by undertaking standard ED Administration duties, and/or directing to appropriate treatment or assistance where required.
- Respond to general reception enquiries for the department by answering all incoming telephone calls and ensuring accurate and timely transfer of messages and information to support patients and staff.
- Perform an administrative support role to medical and nursing staff within the department by assisting with the preparation and completion of a range of administrative duties.
- Consult with patients, carers and clinical staff to obtain correct details for completion of admissions and record information accurately and efficiently into the hospital information systems.
- Process patient registrations, admissions, transfers and discharges accurately and efficiently ensuring timely coordination of all required paperwork, transport and accurate and efficient updating of hospital information systems.
About you:
- Exercise judgement and initiative to resolve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been established and procedures have not been defined, ensuring a satisfactory outcome is achieved.
- Proficiency in the application of computerised information systems and applications.
- Proven ability to act as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team in a highly dynamic environment to deliver high quality services to clients.
- Demonstrated understanding of privacy and confidentiality principles and how these apply to the role of the Emergency Department Administration Officer role.
- Well-developed communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and sensitively with all levels of staff, patients and the general public.
- Ability to respond effectively and immediately in emergency situations by following internal procedures and protocols.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $83,796 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $41.38 - $46.10 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
