About us:
Guided by the National Elective Surgery Urgency Categorisation guidelines, the Elective Surgery Services Implementation Standards (ESSIS), this unit aims to provide quality, safe and efficient patient focused care for preoperative patients, both paediatrics and adult, assessed as suitable for elective surgery.
The Elective Surgery Outsourcing Office manages the waitlist for elective surgery patients eligible for referral through statewide agreements i.e Surgery Connect or local level agreement for access to theatre. The outsourced pathway is inclusive of pre-referral screening following key criteria, monitoring the patient journey and return through to the Hospital and Health Service for ongoing care and follow up after episodes are completed.
About the role:
Clinical Nurse (Elective Surgery Clinical Outsourcing) position is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for selecting appropriate elective surgery patients for outsourcing to private facilities within Queensland. The purpose of this role is to provide expert clinical knowledge and clinical care for patients on the elective surgery waitlist.
- Identifies surgical patients for inclusion in the Surgery Connect Program or local service level agreements through the application of inclusion/exclusion criteria and
- Collate and evaluate all relevant clinical information related to the proposed outsourced procedure including assessment of pre-operative risk
- Develop clear communication, liaison and collaborative working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team inclusive of Surgery Connect and external health service providers across the continuum of
- Provide patient support through education, guidance, and advocacy to optimise surgical readiness and
- Provide clinical outcomes and recommendations to Outsourcing Administrative Officers and other relevant
About you:
- Hold a tertiary degree qualification such as a Bachelor of Nursing or Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is also a requirement for this position. Minimum of three (3) years post graduate nursing experience in an acute/surgical facility. Previous experience in pre-admission clinic or waitlist management will be highly desirable.

What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $135,857.00 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $56.08 - $60.05 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
