Executive Director

The Executive Director, Media and Communications Division, provides high level leadership and strategic direction and support to the Commissioner, Senior Executive Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team on media operations and strategic communications, including crisis and whole of government disaster communications.
The role will lead the effective delivery of 24/7 media operations across the QPS and will develop and implement strategic communication strategies aligned to government and organisational priorities that enhance the image of the QPS in the Queensland community.
The role reports formally to the General Manager, Office of the Commissioner and deals directly with the Commissioner and other members of the Senior Executive Leadership Team on a regular basis.

The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Provide high level leadership and strategic direction and support to the Commissioner, Senior Executive Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team on media operations and strategic communications, including crisis and whole of government disaster communications.
- Lead the development and implementation of effective media and strategic communication strategies, initiatives and campaigns aligned to government and organisational priorities and that aim to enhance the image of the QPS in the Queensland community.
- Lead the successful delivery of a state-wide 24/7 media management capability, ensuring the QPS remains at the cutting edge of media trends and technology to maximise community engagement and confidence.
- Lead the development and implementation of internal communication strategies that drive high levels of employee engagement and are aligned with the vision, purpose and values of the QPS.
- Ensure the operations of the Division are within budget and aligned to QPS values and foster an organisational environment that values performance, teamwork, diversity, continuous improvement, innovation and best practice outcomes.
- Develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships within the organisation, across government and with key stakeholder groups to facilitate trust, collaboration and support.
- Provide high level strategic advice and support to relevant Governance bodies of the QPS including the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Management.
- Represent the organisation in a range of forums, meetings and negotiations that impact on departmental and whole-of-government priorities and initiatives.
