About us 
With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP). 

The CQ Region covers an area of about 604,824km2, approximately 34.9% of Queensland. Its landscape ranges from beautiful coastal areas adjoining the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests to the rugged outback with breathtaking rock formations. The region has an estimated residential population of 422,141 people.

The Role 
In the role of the Senior Engineer (Civil) you will project manage the delivery of road infrastructure projects, provide technical expertise and support to the design, planning, construction, and maintenance processes. In doing this you will ensure effective coordination of key operational activities and resources associated with project management. 

Some of your responsibilities will include: 
•    Perform duties as the Administrator for the delivery of nominated contracts. 
•    Undertake reviews of the contract documents, analyse offers, manage and program preconstruction, construction, and maintenance activities. 
•    Determine the engineering requirements, including materials, critical components, and systems, involved in supporting project management and delivery. 
•    Evaluate and design safe and effective traffic devices for the Region in accordance with legislative requirements and departmental guidelines. 
•    Lead a team of engineers and technical staff with the delivery of Road Maintenance Performance Contracts for a specific local government area. Assist in the resolution of customer concerns, through the Customer Feedback Register (CFR) database and corridor management issues which impact on the network.  
•    Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines, and legislative requirements necessary for the planning, design and construction of road infrastructure projects. 
•    Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to transport infrastructure delivery activities. 
•    In managing projects, you will have the responsibility to plan, assign, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff that would include encouraging teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward the achievement of outcomes. 

Mandatory & Desirable Qualifications 
•    A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.  
•    Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position. 
•    A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence 
•    Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
