An exciting opportunity exists for a Radiation Therapist Senior Brachytherapy, to provide a senior level of radiation therapy services as a member of a team in the following clinical areas:-Brachytherapy.

You will work as part of a team of “brachytherapists” (both Radiation Therapists and Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists) supporting each other to achieve high quality care for patients under the clinical leadership of a Senior Medical Officer, coordinated by brachytherapy team leader. The service has been offering skin brachytherapy since 2020 and will shortly expand to offer a range of internal brachytherapy treatments, primarily for gynaecological and prostate cancers. It operates from a state-of-the-art brachytherapy suite within the Adem Crosby Centre and has technological capabilities including in-room CT scanning.

Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support the relevant Brachytherapy Radiation Therapist - Advanced in providing clinical leadership within the brachytherapy team, enabling high quality radiation therapy planning and treatment to brachytherapy patients.
  • Facilitate the education of undergraduate students on clinical placement and assist the development of radiation therapists in training programs
  • Possess a high level of expertise in brachytherapy radiation therapy treatment and planning clinical practice and regularly apply clinical knowledge and skills to complex, critical decision making with limited professional supervision in brachytherapy including treatment, planning and quality assurance.
  • Actively participate in the development of clinical protocols that meet international best practice standards, including such changes as required by technological and medical advances incorporating continuous quality improvement and use evidence based principles to identify and implement continuous improvement changes through approved change management strategies.

Remuneration value up to $212 867 p.a., comprising salary between $173 377 - $186 568 p.a., Medical Physicist Attraction and Retention Incentive payment Included, employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4).
