An opportunity exists to provide specific Human Resource support to the Statewide Services within the Schools and Student Support Branch in relation to education services for students who are blind or have a vision impairment, deaf or hard of hearing or who have a physical impairment. These services are statewide and borderless in nature. This is a temporary full-time position for a period of 12 months, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role:

This is a focused service for the Department's Low Incidence Statewide Services.
A high degree of knowledge in relation to departmental HR processes, systems and supports are required in relation to the Queensland Department of Education across central, regional and school contexts.
The ideal applicant possesses a high level of skill in relation to communication in order to ensure regional HR personnel are aware of HR impacts regarding statewide staff working in regional locations.
The role requires innovation and leadership to guide the implementation of consistent processes for statewide staff, including teachers, Advisory Visiting Teachers, classified officers, specialist teacher aides in the provision of services to students. Creative solutions to complex HR issues are required in collaboration with Statewide Services staff and HR team members.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Lead and manage project teams to support schools in achieving organisational goals through effective resource allocation and strategic human resource management practices.
  • Contribute as a senior management team member to regional change management initiatives, relational leadership processes, and the delivery of high-quality HR services through strong internal partnerships.
  • Develop innovative workforce planning solutions that address evolving student and community needs, including workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Oversee, commission, and review human resource programs and services, identifying and addressing emerging policy issues aligned with departmental strategic priorities.
  • Provide comprehensive HR advisory services to schools, including performance management, grievance and complaint processes, conflict resolution, employee wellbeing support, case management of medical and rehabilitation matters, and referrals to counselling and support services.
