Your new role

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Apply specialised expertise to ensure all children have access to quality kindergarten in the year before school.
  • Understands the current educational environment and provides advice on process and protocols for coordinated implementation approach of strategies that supports quality delivery of State Delivered Kindergarten
  • Demonstrates a high-level of commitment to professional development and best practice, aligned to the National Quality Framework.
  • Provides current education research and best practice to implement strategies that contribute to improvement, within a K012 education system.
  • In collaboration with leadership team, deliver professional learning and guidance to teachers in the implementation of evidence-based pedagogies in the early years (K-2).
  • Model effective pedagogical practice and strategies in classrooms.
  • Provide guidance and advice to teachers in planning and using the evidence-based tools
  • Provide fundamental knowledge and advice to school leadership teams and teachers to drive improvement in child and student outcomes in the early years.
  • Support school leadership teams and teachers in the analysis, review and response to child and student data.

Liaise with:

  • Key personnel to assist teachers in ensuring the learning needs of all students are addressed in curriculum planning.
  • Administration staff, teachers and teacher aides on curriculum issues.
  • Relevant stakeholders to maximise child and student learning 0-8 with an explicit focus on kindergarten to year 2.
  • Support optimal transition to school practices through development and implementation of a range of initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and management of a range of integrated strategic early childhood initiatives.

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Champion the delivery of State Delivered Kindergarten (SDK) to ensure every child — particularly in selected, discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and other communities where access has been limited — has the opportunity to engage in a quality kindergarten program in the year before school, aligned to the National Quality Standards
  • Work closely with school leaders and educators to strengthen curriculum continuity and pedagogical alignment across kindergarten and the early years, including the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG) and the Australian Curriculum.
  • Provide expert advice, coaching and capability-building to support the delivery of kindergarten programs in multi-age settings, ensuring inclusive, high-quality learning experiences for all children.
  • Lead initiatives that support effective transitions into, through and beyond kindergarten, enhancing children's engagement, wellbeing and success from the start of their learning journey.
