About us:
Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, now providing integrated cancer care services in Central Queensland in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment. The other primary hospitals within the health service are Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon and Biloela together with many smaller rural units transfer patients through to Rockhampton for specialist care and investigation.

About the role:
The Registrar\Principal House Officer assists the staff specialists and senior medical staff in the management of General Surgery services and surgeries to patients in Central Queensland. They will also be responsible for supporting our visiting Urology team. They will have duties as part of the General Surgery registrar on call roster.
- Support the provision of a high-quality surgical service under the direction and guidance of the Director, Staff Specialists and other Senior Medical Staff.
- Participate in the provision of a shift roster to provide services out of hours, at night and on weekends.
- Participate in clinical meetings, continual professional improvement and medical education.
- Assist with case presentations at teaching meetings.
- Provide leadership and teaching to the resident medical staff and participate in undergraduate teaching of medical students.
About you:
- MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.
- If qualifications were obtained outside of Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with Level 3 supervision and provide the following:
- Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language Test results within the last year.
- Evidence of successful completion of AMC MCQ (Part 1) Examination.
- Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is required.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $169,389 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $134,489 - $147,585 p.a. (L13-L14)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
