Through the provision of a range of services, the Service aims to reduce the harm from alcohol and other drug use as well as improve the health and wellbeing of our clients, their families, and the community. Our main office is in Rockhampton, with outreach services located in other areas including Yeppoon, Emerald, Blackwater and Biloela.

About the role:

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse in Alcohol and Other Drugs to utilise their skills in a dynamic AOD service, working closely with senior Nursing positions and the multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care to clients of the AOD service.

The Clinical Nurse (Diversion Team) in Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provides a high level of specialist clinical nursing practice in the delivery of drug and alcohol health services to the clients in AODS. The position promotes harm reduction and primary health care principles in engaging target client groups and the broader community.

Provide early leadership within the career pathway for nursing within Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service and be responsible for the specific client population of AODS and where you will function in more complex situations. The CN follows defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe, practice and services and workplaces.

About you:

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual nursing practicing certificate Division one is essential.
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Drug and Alcohol or Advanced Nursing Practice are desirable, however not mandatory.
  • Experience in Alcohol and Other Drugs Service is desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver safe nursing care at an increasingly complex clinical level to people affected by drug and alcohol issues.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $135,857 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $56.08 - $60.05 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
