About us:
The Gladstone Emergency Department is a 24-hour public department providing initial treatment for all, definitive care for many, and resuscitation and stabilisation of emergencies or unwell patients prior to transfer to tertiary centres or admission to Gladstone Hospital. The Emergency Department provides care across the lifespan and is commissioning a dedicated paediatric zone in the near future.
The geographical area it serves extends south, from Mt Larcom to Miriam Vale and west, to Calliope; servicing approximately 62,660 residents. Approximately 35,000 patients are treated annually in the Emergency Department of which 25% are paediatric.

About the role:
- Demonstrate competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by registration requirements, Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation, and context of care.
- It is the purpose of this role to demonstrate nursing competence in the provision of nursing care to inpatients and outpatients whilst in the department.
- Undertake delegated and delegate activities while assuming individual accountability for actions within the position and context of practice.
- The purpose of the role of RN for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is to provide holistic person-centred care and practice within an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Assumes accountability and responsibility for own actions and delegation of care to Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing and healthcare workers.
About you:
- Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- While not mandatory, Emergency Department experience is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead activities required as part of contribution towards the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service Nursing and Midwifery Professional Practice Model.
- Proven Ability to critically think in relation to planning and responding to a potentially rapidly changing environment regarding safe patient centred care.
- Demonstrated ability with decision making and problem solving in relation to but not limited to negotiation and patient care planning.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $124,741 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $42.98 - $55.13 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
