The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts such as the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, and more. Our work addresses complex and sensitive legal matters, ensuring justice is upheld with professionalism and integrity.
About your opportunity:
This is a continuous recruitment pool to fill various permanent and fixed-term temporary vacancies within the Transcription Services team with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Initial contracts are three to six months with possibility of extension. Applications will remain current for 12 months. Applications will be reviewed and considered as vacancies are identified. The submission of an application to this applicant pool does not guarantee an offer of employment. Candidates will be contacted by ODPP if required for an interview.
As an Administrative Officer (Transcriber), you will:
- Produce transcripts of various recordings to a consistently high standard as prescribed in the Format and Style Manual.
- Provide administrative support with responsibilities for keyboard and word processing work and perform general office duties.
- Administrative duties including maintaining spreadsheets for daily and weekly statistical reports and work assignments.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members and important stakeholders, such as legal staff and their legal support officers.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for a detailed orientated individual with high levels of accuracy. To excel in this role the incumbent will:
- Display high levels of typing proficiency, with attention to accuracy and speed.
- Demonstrate the ability to focus for long periods of time and have good attention to detail.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team of transcribers and administration professionals to deliver services to legal staff.
- Display experience in managing time, and prioritising competing tasks, preferably in a legal environment.
- Demonstrate experience in use of computer software, including Microsoft Office suite, as well as use of databases and other transcription software.
- Demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders in relation to transcription outputs.
- Display a professional approach to work, including a high standard of ethics and integrity.
