Senior Medical Officer (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) Institute of Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH)

This position will provide 0.5FTE specialist consultant child and adolescent psychiatry services to IUIH, though you may be required to undertake other temporary duties as directed by the Medical Director CYMHS, CHQ HHS. You will therefore be expected to have the knowledge and skills to safely provide a broad range of high level professional and expert clinical psychiatric services to optimise assessment and treatment of children/adolescents and their families across CHQ HHS CYMHS.

About the Team
IUIH is a regional not-for-profit Community Controlled Health Service (CCHS) that leads the planning, development and delivery of health, family wellbeing and social support services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of Southeast Queensland. IUIH is working with our Member CCHSs to improve the health, wellbeing and economic independence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Southeast Queensland, the largest and fastest growing Indigenous population in Australia. Utilising the IUIH System of Care, IUIH empowers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing through the delivery of a comprehensive range of services in partnership with our Member CCHSs – the four Community Controlled Health Services of South East Queensland.
About the Role
In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:
- Provide training and support to multi-disciplinary staff
- Provide expert/specialised education, consultation, and training for the multidisciplinary teams
- Assist in leading quality activities and/or research to improve mental health clinical practice within IUIH and within CHQ CYMHS
- Training and supervision to medical students and psychiatric registrars across CHQ CYMHS, as delegated by the Medical Director CYMHS
- Developing a positive culture within IUIH which encourages and recognises high performance, builds leadership capabilities and supports staff to maximise their health and wellbeing.
