We are looking for a permanent Senior Assessment Officer / Investigator to join our team to receive, assess, coordinate, and investigate complaints of suspected corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures within the Department of Health.

What you'll do 

  • Facilitate preliminary complaint processes, liaising with appropriate stakeholders and preparing documentation in response to complaints.
  • Manage internal database systems by receipting and tracking all incoming complaints and queries as well as generating reports and performing data analysis.
  • Review complaint handling processes across the organisation and provide feedback to maximise effectiveness and efficiency in dealing with suspected corrupt conduct.
  • Undertake audits and quality assurance reviews of the complaints management capabilities of departmental work unit.
  • Assist in the identification of system improvement requirements within the Department and report on these matters to the Director via reports or the relevant databases.
  • Provide authoritative advice and support to Divisions and of the Department in respect of matters of suspected corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures.
  • Prepare and deliver education programs and liaison activities aimed at increasing the awareness of public officials in relation to public sector ethics, corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures reporting and management.

About you

We are searching for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in assessments and complaint handling processes, including the interpretation and provision of advice relating to the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010, and other relevant legislation and Department policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, liaison and communication skills, including the capacity and ability to negotiate or communicate on behalf of the agency with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing and conducting complex investigations of suspected corrupt conduct, identify systematic improvement strategies while operating effectively in a high volume, sensitive and complex work environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including ability to prepare documents, investigation reports and briefing notes for senior officers on complex and sensitive issues.
