Assistant Commissioner
Infrastructure Asset Services & Major Capital Works Command; Organisational Capability; Brisbane
The Assistant Commissioner, Infrastructure Command will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership of the Infrastructure, Asset Services and Major Capital Works Command of QCS. The role will ensure effective delivery of infrastructure and asset management services to support the organisation to achieve its long-term strategic objectives.
The role is responsible for the strategic management of $5b of assets; planning, built environment design, and delivery of approximately $530m in capital works and infrastructure; and delivery of approximately $90m in maintenance works.

- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Infrastructure, Asset Services and Major Capital Works Command, ensuring effective governance, risk management, assurance, compliance, and facilities and strategic asset management service delivery to support both the day to day and longer-term operations of QCS
- Ensure the strategic management of QCS assets and fleet (valued at $5b) to optimise asset life, utilisation and value including appropriate tracking, reporting, maintenance, and replacement of assets
- Develop and implement evidence-based operational and long-term asset management strategies and plans, to support the achievement of the organisation's strategic vision and objectives
- Oversee the effective planning and delivery of QCS' major capital works program including infrastructure planning, built- environment design, and contract oversight, ensuring value for money commercial arrangements, maximum long-term value, functionality and capacity to meet QCS's long term operational requirements
- Provide expert, evidence/ insights-based, and trusted advice to the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Organisational Capability, and other Executives on significant, complex and/or high risk facilities and assets management issues
- Ensure that the Infrastructure, Asset Services and Major Capital Works Command has the required capability and capacity to meet the organisation's current and longer-term requirements for asset management
- Develop and inspire a culture which fosters collaboration, evidence-based decision making, innovation, and performance- orientation, where employees are passionate about their work and take personal accountability for their actions
- Ensure that the reputation and interests of the organisation is protected in a high public exposure environment through proactive risk management, leadership, and transparent and accountable decision making within the Infrastructure, Asset Services and Major Capital Works Command
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships and networks with key stakeholders, including representing QCS at a senior executive level in a range of forums and committees to facilitate collaboration and advance the interests of QCS
