The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is seeking a passionate and proactive Culture and Wellbeing Officer to join the team. In this role, you’ll work closely with WHS experts to coordinate vital work health and safety initiatives, including worker rehabilitation and return-to-work programs. You’ll also play a key part in fostering a culturally sensitive workforce by driving diversity and inclusion activities and ensuring the delivery of culturally safe services. About us:

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts such as the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, and more. Our work addresses complex and sensitive legal matters, ensuring justice is upheld with professionalism and integrity.

About your role:

The ODPP is offering a flexible full-time, 12 month (maternity leave cover) opportunity. This position is integral to the development and implementation of proactive wellbeing strategies, ensuring the health, safety, and morale of ODPP staff. n this role, you will:

  • Advise senior leaders and key stakeholders on a range of risks and activities associated with proactive wellbeing strategies and preventative measures to reduce psychosocial injuries. Your expertise will help shape a culture of care and resilience across the organisation. 
  • Contribute to strategic planning by providing input into evidence-based solutions and hazard mitigation strategies. You will work collaboratively with other subject matter experts to ensure the ODPP's health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives align with best practices and organisational goals. 
  • Coordinate worker rehabilitation programs in partnership with the Department of Justice (DoJ) 
  • Workplace Rehabilitation Coordination unit. You will act as a key point of contact for staff on workers' compensation matters and return-to-work plans, ensuring a smooth and supportive process for affected employees. 
  • Prepare high-quality documentation such as submissions, reports, and briefs to advise the Director of Public Prosecutions, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Manager on significant issues. Your work will align with the ODPP's reporting framework and support informed decision-making at the highest levels. 
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders within the ODPP and across key DoJ workgroups. You will champion safety and risk mitigation, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. 
  • Promote staff wellbeing and morale by working with Senior Management to deliver a range of events and activities that enhance workplace culture and support employee engagement.

We're looking for:

  • The ability to advise senior leaders and key stakeholders on risks and activities related to proactive wellbeing strategies and preventative measures to prevent psychosocial injuries. 
  • Experience in providing evidence-based solutions and hazard mitigation strategies to support the strategic planning of health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives in collaboration with subject matter experts. 
  • Proven expertise in coordinating worker rehabilitation programs and acting as a liaison for staff on workers' compensation and return-to-work plans, in conjunction with the DoJ Workplace Rehabilitation Coordination unit. 
  • Strong skills in preparing submissions, reports, and briefs to inform and advise senior leadership on significant issues, ensuring alignment with organisational reporting frameworks. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to manage stakeholder relationships within the ODPP and across other key DoJ workgroups, building trust and advocating for safety and risk mitigation. 
  • A proactive and creative approach to delivering wellbeing events and activities that foster a positive workplace culture and enhance staff morale.
