QCS has multiple exciting opportunities throughout Queensland to join our team as a Mental Health Clinician.
In each Correctional Centre, QCS provides a range of mental health services to adults in our care in each Correctional Centre. QCS is changing how we deliver these services and there has never been a better time to come to work with us. We are seeking early career and experienced Psychologists, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists who want to be part of these crucial centre-based teams. The Numinbah Correctional Centre is a low security centre located 100 kilometres south of Brisbane in the Gold Coast hinterland. The centre and surrounding property is located on over 770 hectares. The centre encourages a self-directed rehabilitation model to prepare prisoners for release to the community or community-based supervision. Prisoners are encouraged to work and obtain new skills, with work including landscaping, Pups in Prison program, sewing, and farm work.
No two days will ever be the same; you will manage a challenging case load, be exposed to on the job learning like no other role, all while providing quality clinical services that include assessments and tailored interventions that support mental health and wellbeing. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to collaborate and work effectively and sensitively with a diverse range of colleagues and individuals in custody.
As a member of this team, you will also:
• Conduct independent risk assessments of harm to self or others, including acute or chronic risk
• Provide psychoeducation related to mental health conditions, symptoms and treatment options to individuals
• Deliver individual or group-based skill acquisition focused interventions aimed at developing coping skills and building resilience
• Maintain a high level of knowledge and contemporary understanding of psychopathology, diagnostic classification systems and clinical and psychometric assessment tools
QCS' clinical frameworks provide sound guidance and logic for appropriate decisions and activities, plus you will have supportive leadership and supervision to help you continue to broaden your professional experience and knowledge.
