As a Planning Officer you contribute to the Planning Services team and regional development through statutory and strategic land use planning services provided by the department. You will have the opportunity to contribute technical expertise and planning and development best practice to the regions we service.

Your responsibilities
• Assess development applications through the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA).
• Contribute to and support whole of government involvement and input on matters of State and/or regional significance into local government plans, statutory and other land use planning processes.
• Interpret and implement Planning Act legislation regulations, and guidelines relating to work area policies and functions.
• Provide technical advice to internal and external clients on local, statutory and regional planning issues.
• Prepare written correspondence, submissions, briefs and reports on land use planning issues and initiatives.
• Undertake research, analysis and problem solving.
• Work in a flexible, multi-disciplinary team managing projects and fostering a positive team environment.
• Represent the Department, as appropriate, at industry/stakeholders' events, meetings and working groups in an effective and professional manner.
