Your new role:

As an Operating Theatre Assistant, you will provide vital operational support within the Theatre environment, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality services that enable surgical teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

  • Provide cleaning and environmental support across procedure rooms, team areas, corridors and associated clinical spaces, maintaining strict infection control and safety standards.
  • Prepare and pre-set procedure rooms with appropriate equipment and consumables to ensure surgical readiness.
  • Assist with safe patient transfers between wards, Holding Bay, PACU, ICU and operating theatre tables in accordance with approved patient handling procedures.
  • Support theatre procedures as directed, ensuring the safe handling of patients, equipment and materials while complying with workplace health and safety policies.

  • You have practical knowledge of theatre support services, porterage, cleaning practices and safe patient handling procedures.
  • You work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and prioritise patient comfort, dignity and safety at all times.
  • You demonstrate flexibility, resilience and the ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure or traumatic situations.
  • You uphold high standards of hygiene, ethical conduct and compliance with organisational policies, values and safety requirements.
