About the Role
- Assist with the production of sandwich and cold food items as well as the preparation, plating, ordering and distribution of patient meals and mid meal beverage service as directed. The ability to interpret patient diet list for ward services, and ensure tasks are performed in accordance with approved procedures and quality requirements.
- Undertake general kitchen duties including but not limited to operation of a buffet cart, flight through dishwasher, patient tray stripping, pot wash duties, pushing trolleys, stock rotation and management, and undertake general cleaning as directed, ensuring tasks are performed in accordance with approved procedures.
- Deliver professional customer service, respond to customer requests in a timely manner & ensure complaints are dealt with satisfactorily, or passed to the appropriate Manager.
- Personnel performing duties of a Food Service Officer must be able to effectively and safely undertake manual handling tasks such as lifting, pushing trolleys, plating meals and preparing meal trays and general cleaning duties on a daily basis.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic workplace in accordance with the Food Safety Management System and other approved procedures and hospital policies, complete temperature monitoring and cleaning audits, and working safely within the organisations recognised OH&S guidelines.
- Ensure that all aspects of the Food Safety Management System are adhered to at all times and codes of practice are implemented within their respective areas of operation. Food service officers are encouraged to provide feedback on Food Safety related issues and contribute positively to the Food Safety team.
- Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resources management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, work, health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
- Develop a positive culture within division which encourages and recognises high performance, builds leadership capabilities and supports staff to maximise their health and wellbeing.
- The ability to use current software packages required within the department i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and CBORD.
- Stock management including ordering to par levels, receipt of goods, safe handling, storage, picking, packing and stocktaking of food and non-food items.
