About us:

Welcome to the Emergency Department — where no two days (or minutes!) are ever the same. This fast-paced, high-energy environment cares for both adults and kids, with 25 acute treatment spaces, 3 resus bays ready for action, dedicated triage and Queensland Ambulance Service assessment zones, plus a Fast-Track area to keep things moving for less urgent cases. There's also a 12-bed Short Stay Unit to support patients who need a little extra time and care.

With around 140 patients walking (and wheeling!) through the doors every 24 hours, the team manages everything from everyday emergencies to complex, critical and trauma cases. As a key referral centre for Central Queensland, the ED works closely with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) to deliver high-level care to a culturally diverse community — making a real difference when it matters most.

About the role:

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you'll be right in the heart of the action — delivering safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care when it matters most. You'll be part of a tight-knit multidisciplinary team, keeping the department running smoothly through great communication, quick thinking and genuine teamwork.

You'll lead with confidence, supporting and supervising Enrolled Nurses and nursing students while fostering a positive, learning-focused environment. With sharp clinical judgement, you'll recognise and respond to deteriorating patients, staying calm under pressure and ready for anything. And because ED never stands still, you'll also play an active role in quality improvement and research — helping shape better outcomes for every patient who comes through the doors.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate — because you're the real deal.
  • Advanced Life Support and Triage competencies are highly desirable — bonus points if you can stay cool in resus and thrive at the front line of decision-making!

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $124,741 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $42.98 - $55.13 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

Additional Benefits

  • Temporary accommodation and relocation assistance for eligible candidates (conditions apply)
  • Ongoing Professional Development and Education Opportunities
  • Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
  • Generous Salary Sacrificing Options
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Discounted Private Health Insurance
  • Fitness Passport

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements:

It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases as listed on the Role Description.
