Principal Practitioner Specialised Clinical Services

The purpose of the role is to enhance community safety through the delivery of a number of specialist services supporting QCS management of high harm/complex needs offenders. The Principal Practitioner will conduct and lead a wide range of forensic assessments, reports and interventions, case formulation, evidence based intervention, advice on operational case management and the provision of specialist advice for offenders deemed as high harm/complex needs. The Principal Practitioner will support, mentor and supervise senior practitioners in their professional and operational development within SCS and QCS as a whole. The role engages with a range of key stakeholders, including the Parole Board Queensland, QCS Executive Management, Correctional Centres, Probation and Parole District Offices, Queensland Health and external allied health professionals.

The most suitable applicant will demonstrate their applied knowledge, skills, and experience against these essential role requirements of the Individual contributor leadership stream:
• Significant experience working within a clinical or forensic environment conducting assessments or intervention with complex clients
• Demonstrated high level experience and/or clinical knowledge in assessing, managing and treating offenders deemed as high harm/complex needs which may include offenders who have engaged, or may engage in violent, sexual, extremist or fixated related offending
• Experience and understanding of case management, intervention practices while applying risk reduction strategies for offenders deemed as high harm/complex needs
• Experience in the administration and interpretation of psychometric, offender risk and/or allied health professional tools used in the assessment of offenders
• Experience working within a criminal justice environment, particularly within either a custodial or community-based correctional environment or demonstrated transferrable skills and knowledge
• Ability to effectively liaise with other clinicians, practitioners and experts in the forensic and mental health field
• Experience in providing peer supervision, coaching, mentoring and support to individuals and teams
• Experience in preparation and delivery of education and/or training packages to build capability in the corrections workforce
• Experience in monitoring, evaluating and supporting high quality service provision
• Knowledge of change management and continuous improvement initiatives will be highly regarded
• Knowledge and understanding of the application of theories, models and research related to behavioural change techniques
• Knowledge, interpretation and application of legislation, policies and procedures in particular those relating to the management of offenders
• Supports strategic direction through understanding, supporting and promoting QCS's vision and objectives
• Achieves results through identifying and using resources wisely, responding positively to change and managing responsibilities and projects through to completion
• Supports productive working relationships with stakeholders and clients, encouraging the exploration of differing views
• Displays personal drive and integrity, challenging issues constructively and selfevaluating
• Communicates clearly and with influence, anticipating stakeholder needs and negotiates confidently
