The Business Manager plays a key role in coordinating finance, administration, HR processes, and facilities management, enabling the principal and staff to focus on teaching and learning.

We are seeking an adaptable, proactive individual who thrives in a small-school environment and takes pride in supporting staff, students, and families.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.31FTE), 22.5 hours per fortnight.

About the School

Mount Murchison State School, established in 1935, is a small and vibrant school located near Biloela in Central Queensland. About the Role

As the Business Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of the school's administrative, financial, and operational functions. Reporting to the Principal, you will provide corporate services and administrative support to enable the school to deliver high-quality education.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the school's financial operations, including budgeting, purchasing, invoicing, and financial reporting.
  • Overseeing administration processes such as HR, payroll support, asset management, and facilities coordination.
  • Supporting the Principal with strategic financial planning, resource allocation, and compliance activities.
  • Supervising and managing school support staff, including recruitment, training, and performance monitoring.
  • Coordinating contractors, facilities maintenance, and logistics for events, excursions, and projects.

This role is ideal for a highly organised, solutions-focused professional who enjoys working in a close-knit school community and is confident managing diverse responsibilities.

About You

  • Experience in financial management, including budgeting and reporting.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to handle competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in administrative systems, such as OneSchool or similar platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to lead and support a small team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
