Senior Water Officer


North Water Monitoring and Compliance; North Region; Water Resource Management; Ayr, Boogan, Cairns, Longreach, Mackay, Mareeba, Rockhampton, Townsville

Join our Compliance team and lead a dedicated group of officers in delivering water measurement and compliance functions. Your work will contribute to the sustainable management of water and riverine resources, in line with departmental policies and priorities, in collaboration with stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:
• Leading regional compliance and water measurement programs, particularly in Far North Queensland.
• Engaging with internal and external clients to deliver regulatory services and compliance activities.
• Interpreting and applying the Water Act 2000 and Planning Act 2016 to achieve compliance outcomes.
• Providing strategic advice on compliance, policy application, and regional implementation.
• Representing the department in public forums and preparing detailed reports and correspondence.

The Role
Operating from within Water Resource Management, North Region, you will provide leadership and operational guidance to a team of officers delivering water measurement and compliance related functions that contribute to achieving sustainable management and use of the Region's water resources, consistent with Departmental frameworks, policies and priorities, in partnership with stakeholders.
