Senior Executive Director - Strategy, Policy and Legislation

As the Senior Executive Director, Strategy, Policy and Legislation you will provide high-quality advice and information to the Director-General, Minister, and other members of the department’s Board of Management on matters relating to youth justice legislation; strategic policy; performance reporting; program management and monitoring.
This includes leading a team to prepare Cabinet and Cabinet Budget Review Committee submissions and briefing material and supporting the Minister in the preparation and passage of significant legislative reforms.

The position requires extensive inter-agency collaboration to drive and influence system level reforms throughout the criminal justice system; and engagement and leadership across a range of government agencies, non-government service providers, community-controlled organisations, oversight bodies and diverse stakeholder groups. The position also requires extensive internal consultation and engagement to ensure the effective collaborative design and implementation of Government priorities.
The position requires a person who will take personal responsibility for serving the Government of the day and meeting the needs of the people and ommunities of Queensland. As an executive, you will work towards a system of world class service delivery and public sector management.
You will have a record of success as a leader in a large and complex organisation with outstanding leadership ability. You will have extensive experience across the public, private and/or not-for-profit sectors and you will have a strong background in strategic policy and legislative reform and implementation, service delivery, and customer service. You will have a proven track record as an agent of change in challenging environments and in fostering a confident, capable, diverse and inclusive workforce.
