Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist - Cytology

We are excited to offer a permanent full-time role to the best suited applicant. Cytology at Pathology Queensland Central (RBWH) provides a comprehensive state-wide gynaecological (cervical) cytology service and a non-gynaecological cytology service to hospitals on site as well as a central referral service to laboratories throughout Queensland and overseas.

Provide leadership in the non-gynaecological and gynaecological preparation laboratories and undertaking specimen preparation, assessment, diagnostic testing and related duties both within the preparatory laboratory and at external clinical units.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to screen and where authorised, report and validate gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytology preparations.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake, or rapidly acquire the skills to undertake, cytology specimen preparation, assessment, diagnostic testing and related duties both within the preparatory laboratory and at external clinical units
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment to achieve the goals of the work unit.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to actively participate in and contribute to continuing education and other professional development activities.
