Your new role:
This role is responsible for designing and delivering recreational and diversional therapy programs that support the recovery, wellbeing and social engagement of consumers within an acute mental health inpatient environment.
- Plan, implement and evaluate a diverse program of recreational, social and diversional activities that support the physical and mental wellbeing of inpatient consumers.
- Work collaboratively with consumers, carers, nursing and allied health staff to develop person-centred, culturally sensitive recreation programs that meet individual needs.
- Supervise and support consumers participating in recreational and leisure activities, ensuring safety and a therapeutic environment.
About you:
You are a motivated and compassionate professional who understands the role of recreation in supporting mental health recovery and can deliver engaging, consumer-focused programs in a clinical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to assess individual needs, interests and abilities to design and deliver effective recreation or diversional therapy programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with consumers, families, multidisciplinary teams and community organisations.
- Highly organised and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively, with strong planning, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, mental health service frameworks, relevant legislation and clinical information systems.
