We are seeking a compassionate, person-centred Assistant in Nursing (AIN) to support the delivery of high-quality care within our Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient Unit. In this role, you will assist with personal care needs and work closely with nursing staff to ensure safe, effective care. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help promote dignity, independence, and quality of life for our patients.

The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service delivers specialist mental health and alcohol and other drug care to communities across Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana regions, supporting a diverse population of more than 250,000 people.
Working collaboratively with Adult Mental Health Inpatient Units, Acute Care Teams, Primary Health providers, and a broad network of community and private sector partners, we take an integrated approach to care. About the role:
- Work directly under the supervision of Registered Nurses to provide direct and non-direct care.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for staff and the recipients of healthcare environment.
- Gather information about resident/patient care needs by observing the consumer and reporting to the registered nurse to assist the Registered Nurse to assess, plan and evaluate care.
- Responsibility for identifying own learning needs and search for new learning opportunities, acquiring new skills and knowledge to meet service need.
- Perform and report on outcomes of care delivery as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
- Contribute to any research activities within as appropriate when required.
About you:
- While not mandatory, a relevant Certificate 3 or successful completion of 12 months full time study in a Diploma of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing program would be well regarded.
- Demonstrate a high standard of the provision of basic personal care needs.
- Ability to use negotiation skills to avoid conflict and work with others.
- Ability to communicate oral and written information promptly and accurately.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and thoughtfully with other staff, patients, and carers.
- Committed to the delivery of high quality, safe patient centred care, practice, and service.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $84,707 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $34.19 - $37.44 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
