Your key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of specialist professional librarians to provide expert legal research that manages and enhances the access of relevant information to lawyers and policy officers of the department.
- Strategically manage the delivery of high-quality library services that align with best practice in relevant industry standards and meet client expectations, departmental standards, policies, and budgetary considerations. Proactively manage business risks, including those associated with legal research and team targets.
- Oversee the development and delivery of the Library's legal research trainingservices to Crown Law and DoJ staff through the creation and presentation of Library legal research guides, resources and materials using online, on demand and face to face delivery options.
- Oversee and manage the library management systems.
- Proactively assess, monitor and recommend emerging library systems and technology and maintain an awareness of opportunities and potential value for Crown Law and the department.
- Together with key stakeholders including CL's Senior Leadership Team and the Practice Management Branch, lead and contribute to deliverables within the annual strategic business plan as and when required.
- Contribute to business success through meeting budget objectives, negotiation of cost-effective goods and services contracts, and identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives.
- Manage major contracts for procurement of legal library resources and oversight of these contractual arrangements between CL/DoJ and external vendors Manage collection and analysis of relevant data and prepare reports for the Executive Director and the Senior Leadership Team as required
- As team leader manage the library team, ensure people management goals are achieved, including development, mentoring, succession and performance.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with senior decision makers and legal professionals, keep abreast of client needs, monitor library service levels and manage the resolution of significant client issues.
- Participate as a member of the Practice Management Branch.
- Support the direction and expectations of Crown Law's Senior Leadership Team.
- Develop, manage and engage in strong and productive relationships within the Legal and Government Library services network. In particular, to ensure best practice in delivery of services maintain key relationships with the Supreme Court Library, State library of Queensland, and other government libraries,
