The Department of Education is seeking a Senior Injury Management Consultant to lead injury management initiatives and improve health, safety, and wellbeing outcomes for employees in the Far North Queensland Region.

About the Role:

As a Senior Injury Management Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in improving health, safety, and wellbeing outcomes for our employees. You will provide expert advice, leadership, and case management services to regional offices and schools, ensuring compliance with legislation and departmental policies.

The Senior Injury Management Consultant involves providing expert advice on injury management, including WorkCover and QSuper claims, workplace rehabilitation, and reasonable adjustments. You will also manage injury cases, support claims officers, monitor injury data to identify trends, and deliver training to school-based Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinators, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and departmental policies. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive environment.

You will report to the Principal Human Resources Consultant and Director, HR Business Partnering, while maintaining a professional working relationship with the Organisational Safety and Wellbeing Team in Central Office.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and provide expert advice on injury management, including WorkCover claims, QSuper claims, workplace rehabilitation, medical deployment, and reasonable adjustments.
  • Manage injury management cases for selected employees in line with departmental priorities.
  • Provide functional and line management to claims officers.
  • Monitor injury management data to identify trends and develop reports to inform decision-making and improve health, safety, and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Develop and implement effective systems for injury management within the region.
  • Coordinate and coach school-based Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinators.
  • Deliver injury management training to school and regional office employees.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and departmental policies, including the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation 2014.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of injury management policies, procedures, and strategies.
