The Queensland Parliamentary Service (QPS) provides the professional support and services that enable the Legislative Assembly, its committees and 93 Members of Parliament to serve the people of Queensland. Through its skilled workforce, QPS ensures the Parliament can carry out its legislative, constitutional and representational responsibilities.
Purpose of the Role
The Senior People and Culture Advisor provides high quality HR advisory and consultancy services across the Queensland Parliamentary Service. The role supports Members, leaders and staff across the parliamentary precinct and electorate offices by providing advice on industrial and employee relations matters, case management and contemporary people management practices.
About the Role
This role sits within the People and Culture team and contributes to supporting a professional and responsive workplace environment across the organisation. The position requires a HR professional who can provide balanced and practical advice while working closely with leaders and staff across a diverse stakeholder environment.
Working within the Parliamentary Service provides the opportunity to engage with a broad range of stakeholders and contribute to the effective functioning of Parliament. The role supports the delivery of fair and consistent workplace practices while helping to strengthen people and culture capability across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide HR advisory services across industrial relations, employee relations and complex case management matters.
- Support leaders and staff with advice on workplace matters, policy interpretation and people management practices.
- Assist with the development and improvement of people and culture policies, procedures and systems.
- Prepare correspondence, briefings and documentation relating to employment matters.
- Support workers' compensation and rehabilitation processes where required.
- Build effective working relationships with Members, managers and staff across the parliamentary precinct and electorate offices.
- Contribute to a collaborative and professional People and Culture team.
What QPS Is Seeking
- Demonstrated HR advisory experience in a complex organisational environment.
- Strong capability in industrial relations, employee relations and case management.
- Ability to build productive relationships and provide balanced advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong written communication and attention to detail.
- Sound judgement and professionalism when managing sensitive workplace matters.
- Relevant HR qualifications or tertiary study will be well regarded.
