About us:
The Finance Department is responsible for managing the financial operations of the health service, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and ensuring efficient allocation of resources. It oversees billing processes, financial compliance, and supports strategic financial planning to ensure the health service's financial sustainability and optimal delivery of healthcare services. The department works closely with other hospital departments to maintain accurate financial records and facilitate effective financial decision-making.
About the role:
- The Financial Accountant and Compliance Officer is part of a dedicated team of finance professionals who support Central Queensland Health through the provision of accountable, transparent, professional and value-for-money financial accounting services. This position is also responsible for development and implementation of the financial management assurance framework by identifying financial control risks and recommending, designing and implementing effective and efficient control solutions.
- Take a leading role in the end of month process including reviewing and approving journals; monthly balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy; other end of month checks, as deemed appropriate.
- Take a leading role in the end of financial year processes, including the preparation of the general-purpose financial statements and accompanying notes and supporting workpapers. Liaise with external auditors, gathering, analysing and providing information, as required.
- Complete financial reporting requirements to Queensland Treasury, as required, in a timely and accurate manner, including quarterly and annual tridata reporting for whole of government.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Economics or other relevant disciplines is mandatory for this position.
- Certified Practicing Accountant/Chartered Accountant (CPA/CA) designation or equivalent would be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the health service delivery environment would be highly regarded.
- High level knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply concepts, policy, procedures, standards and legislation relevant to financial accounting, asset accounting, taxation and compliance/ audit.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership through influence, guidance and collaboration, including the capacity to motivate, support and build capacity of team members and stakeholders without supervisory authority.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $152,772 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $62.61 - $67.53 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
