Queensland Government Air forms part of the Queensland Police Service (QPS), Aviation Capability Group (ACG) and provides government aviation services specialising in both rotary and fixed wing operations in support of the QPS and our partner agencies in regular and emergency response operations across Queensland.

The Role:

Join the QGAir dynamic rotary wing team and make a real difference in the lives of Queenslanders. We are seeking a Chief Aircrew Officer to lead and inspire our aircrew, ensuring they are expertly trained, operationally ready and fully compliant with CASA and QGAir standards.

In this role, you'll drive crew training programs, oversee records and procedures and liaise with regulators, all while supporting lifesaving aeromedical, search and rescue and disaster relief operations. Whilst the position is currently based in Brisbane, we are also accepting applications from individuals interested in being based in Cairns or Townsville. The final location - Brisbane, Cairns or Townsville will be determined through negotiation with the successful candidate.

What we're looking for:

Mandatory requirements:

• Front Left Hand Seat Qualification Training.
• Management and Training Experience.
• Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) aircrew training approval.
• Minimum of 5 years operational experience conducting NVIS aircrew training and checking.
• Qualified Helicopter Aircrew Officer with at least 1500 logged rotary wing hours and operational winching experience including night winching.
• Minimum of 200 hours NVIS aircrew experience including Emergency Service Operations (ESO) and Medical Transport Operations (MTO).
• Hold a current CASA Aviation Class 2 Medical Certificate.
• Winch Endorsement (from an approved Training and Checking Organisation).
• Certificate IV in Airborne Operations (or equivalent).
• Able to achieve Current certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment within six months of appointment.
• The requirement to be contactable for advice and consultation to the Senior Aircrew Officers and line crew.

• Applicants must pass the Aircrew Officer Physical Fitness Test.
• The successful candidate will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability.
• The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.
• The role requires intra and interstate travel, and is required to perform shift duties at Archerfield, Cairns and Townsville when base rosters cannot facilitate coverage for the online aircraft.
