About us:

The Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Unit (NMERU) provides a recognised reference point for the educational and training support to nursing and midwifery staff within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS). The Nursing and Midwifery education team support the professional development of nursing and midwifery staff working in general acute, specialist areas and community environments across urban, rural, and regional centres through the development of innovative and dynamic strategies (including simulation) within the education programs.

About you:

In your new role you will……

  • Implement and monitor the organisation's quality standards, work health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area.
  • Promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring of less experienced nursing staff working within the cardiac units and at Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.
  • Foster a positive culture of continuous quality improvement, including exemplary leadership practices and role-modelling behaviours, promoting cooperation and collaborative teamwork.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will…..

  • Support the professional development of nursing staff, including Clinical Facilitators, less experienced nursing staff, post-graduate, and undergraduate nursing students and AINs.
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to develop and implement assessment, planning, review, and evaluation of educational programs for nursing staff, undergraduate and post graduate students, and AINs within the cardiac units.
