This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse leader to step into the role of Nurse Unit Manager of Kamala Inpatient Adult Mental Health Unit within the Mental Health and Specialised Services at Sunshine Coast Health.

In this role you will lead a dedicated multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality inpatient mental health care within a contemporary, recovery-oriented service.  As the Nurse Unit Manager you will play a key leadership role in shaping a positive clinical culture that prioritises person centred, trauma informed and least restrictive care whilst supporting staff to deliver safe, compassionate and evidence based treatment.

The SCH Kamala Acute Mental Health (MH) Inpatient Unit (IPU) is a 20-bed service, providing comprehensive assessment, therapeutic engagement and short term treatment for adults 18 years and over, experiencing acute episodes of mental illness and psychological distress.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
  • Nominated as Medicine Store and S8 Safe Manager as per the Substance Management Plan for Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service Regulated Places, as required. 
  • Work collaboratively with the MHSS Directors, Professional Leads and other multidisciplinary MHSS teams to implement clinical governance requirements that align with the MHSS Governance Framework.
  • Provide leadership and direction for workforce planning and capability strategies for a multi-disciplinary team to achieve alignment, enhancement, and efficiency in the delivery of quality patient care and service. Review / development of role descriptions, leave cover arrangements, recruitment and planning to meet service requirements.

Remuneration value up to $169,138 p.a., comprising salary between $136,538 - $148,242 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 7).
