The Queensland Parliamentary Service is seeking a dedicated Electorate Officer to support Mr Adam Baillie, Member for Townsville in their parliamentary and community responsibilities. Based in the Townsville Electorate Office, this role is central to the effective operation of the office and to delivering responsive, high‑quality service to constituents across the electorate.
Key Objectives
- Provide high‑level administrative, executive and office management support to the Member.
- Support effective engagement with constituents, community organisations and stakeholders.
- Ensure the professional, efficient and compliant operation of the electorate office.
Your Role
- Coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of the electorate office.
- Supervise and support a small team, including volunteers, and provide oversight of office workflows.
- Manage reception duties and respond to constituent and stakeholder enquiries via phone, email and in person.
- Act as a primary point of contact for constituents seeking assistance, including referring vulnerable individuals to relevant support services.
- Manage the Member's diary, correspondence and meeting schedules with accuracy and discretion.
- Undertake a range of administrative tasks including record keeping, database management, financial administration and data entry.
- Assist with media enquiries, correspondence and social media content as directed by the Member.
- Support community engagement activities, including liaising with local organisations, organising meetings and attending community events.
- Assist in the delivery and administration of community grants and local initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in administration, office management or executive support roles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong written communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- High‑level organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Sound problem‑solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word) and database systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and meet tight deadlines.
