The Business Support Officer plays a vital role in supporting the operational efficiency of the Water Ecosystem Science Branch. This position provides highquality administrative assistance across finance, travel, human resources, workplace health and safety, and general business functions. The successful applicant will be an organised and proactive team member who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering continuous business improvements.
In this role, you will apply strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring priorities are met and work is delivered to a high standard. You will provide accurate and timely information to management and staff on a wide range of administrative matters, including HR processes, financial transactions, travel coordination, invoice management, correspondence and records management systems. Your ability to maintain attention to detail while managing competing priorities will be essential to supporting the smooth operation of the Branch.
You will be responsible for addressing enquiries that may be less routine in nature, adapting to new systems and identifying opportunities to optimise processes and support change. The role requires the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of departmental administrative procedures, particularly those relating to correspondence, reporting, travel management and purchasing systems. A key component of the position is providing high‑level communication and administrative support, including preparing, reviewing and quality‑assuring a range of documents and correspondence. You will work closely with staff across the Branch to ensure information is accurate, consistent and delivered in a timely manner.
The Business Support Officer also contributes to fostering a positive workplace culture by promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive environment free from bullying, discrimination and harassment. You will support the Branch's commitment to wellbeing, professionalism and continuous improvement.
