Director, Education and Capacity Building

The Queensland Family and Child Commission have an exciting new opportunity for a Director, Education & Capacity Building.
You will set and drive the Commission's strategy to equip and empower industries, sectors and organisations to understand the requirements of the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 and build their knowledge and capability to provide safe environments for children and protect them from harm.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Board (ELB), you will partner with senior leaders to build and implement business operation strategies and practices aligned to the strategic objectives, to enable the Commission to deliver its outcomes and drive a positive culture.

Working in a complex regulatory and policy environment, you will provide strategic advice, undertake practice and quality assurance reviews, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve safeguarding capability, while driving a continuous practice development agenda to enhance employee capability within the CSO division.
As part of the Commission's Director cohort, this position requires strong professional leadership and management capabilities and an ability to lead, manage and monitor service delivery aligned to priorities, along with excellence in client service delivery.
As a director, your performance will be assessed according to four key accountability perspectives: financial, stakeholder and outcome, internal business, and learning and growth.
In this role you will have the following responsibilities and accountabilities:
Financial
• Provide strategic oversight of the Education and Capability Building's budget and resources, ensuring effective and accountable use of public funds in line with Commission and whole-of-government requirements.
• Oversight and contribute to reporting on expenditure to support strong fiscal management and transparency, including alignment with strategic priorities and safeguarding commitments.
Stakeholder and Outcome
• Provide strategic leadership and develop strategies to educate sectors, build capacity and provide expert policy advice to key stakeholders across Queensland, to mitigate risk and ensure obligations under the CSO Act are met.
• Build, manage and maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships through established engagement approaches to support implementation aligned to the CSO Act, while navigating political environments.
• Lead engagement with regulated organisations, sector regulators and community organisations, to capture emerging issues, practice insights and barriers to implementing safeguarding practices.
• Actively encourage and support the inclusion of diverse viewpoints and ensure the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in the Commissions work.
• Promote a positive public image for the Commission, ensuring that effective linkages are established and fostered with other agencies, jurisdictions, client groups and other key stakeholders.
Internal Business
• Participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Board in formulating strategic policy and setting organisational direction to deliver on Government and the Commission's strategic priorities.
• Provide leadership in the establishment of organisational objectives, policies and initiatives, and set appropriate performance standards, benchmarks and targets for direct reports to ensure effective leadership and people management.
• Work within the established governance structure of the commission and working collaboratively across the commission to achieve outcomes.
Learning and Growth
• Develop, implement and co-ordinate business transformation initiatives that align with strategic priorities and link with other resource planning and management processes. Maximise opportunities available from harnessing opportunities for business transformation through innovation and use of emerging technologies.
