About the Team/Organisation:
The Passenger Rollingstock and Signalling (PRS) Branch is delivering and managing rollingstock and signalling projects that are innovative, integrated and accessible to meet the growing demand for rail services in South East Queensland.
In the role of the Principal Advisor (Project Delivery) you will provide high-level support the Executive Director in managing the operation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) program, providing timely and informed advice on policy, strategic issues, and government decisions, as well as collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across the Department and senior leadership for the
successful delivery of priorities and outcomes for the European Train Control System program.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, to research, analyse, make recommendations and prepare responses for the Executive Director (ETCS), including ministerials, briefing papers, submissions and reports, on critical and sensitive matters, often in extremely tight deadlines and program timeframes.
• Provide informed advice to the Executive Director (ETCS) on policies and nstrategic issues including government decisions, undertaking research and collaborating with key stakeholders.
• Manage the efficient and timely flow of correspondence and approvals, undertaking a review to ensure consistency with workflows and adherence to departmental policy, procedures and standards prior to consideration.
• Act as the main point of contact for ETCS leadership for internal and external stakeholders including the Executive Leadership Team in the Branch, Senior Leadership Team in the Division and Department as well as the Ministers Office ensuring the Executive Director is informed and immediate action required on matters are prioritised.
• Represent the Executive Director (ETCS) including exercising discretion with sensitive issues and making judgements and decisions on behalf of the Executive Director (ETCS).
• Brief the Executive Director (ETCS) or their representative in preparation for attendance at internal and external meetings, conferences and workshops.
• Assist the leadership team in ETCS as required including the delivery of administrative obligations and responsibilities.
• Drive a positive culture within the project
Highly desirable qualifications
• Formal relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in an advisory capacity regarding program/project delivery, policy/strategy development and communication in a similar organisation.
Requirements of the role:
This role will provide high-level support to the Executive Director (ETCS)
• Experience in a senior executive support role, providing high-quality executive advisory and briefing support, ideally within a government or large organizational setting.
• Ability to provide high-level leadership support, including managing priorities, coordinating tasks, and ensuring efficient operations within agreed scope, schedule, budget, and benefits.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• High level literacy skills to facilitate professional, clear and concise written and verbal communication, including an adaptive communication style targeting different audiences and communication mediums.
• Strong analytical skills with the capability to research, analyze complex issues, and provide well-informed recommendations and briefings to support decisionmaking.
