About the Role
This senior leadership role sits at the heart of a fast‑paced, high‑performing electorate office. The Electorate Officer provides executive, strategic and operational support to the Member for Barron River, ensuring coordinated management of the Member's priorities, communications, administration and community engagement.
This role is central to enabling the Member to operate at full capacity and focus on representing the community. You will bring structure, clarity and direction to a busy, high‑profile office, ensuring the team is aligned, workload is well managed, and the Member is supported to deliver for the electorate.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive Support & Diary Management
Manage the Member's diary and priorities; coordinate meetings, events and travel; anticipate conflicts; ensure the Member is well briefed; and act as the central point for incoming requests.
- Office Leadership & Team Management
Lead a small, high‑performing team. Set priorities, monitor workflows, support staff development and maintain a collaborative, accountable culture.
- Strategic Coordination & Delivery
Ensure office functions are integrated and delivered to a high standard. Oversee planning and execution of engagement, events and communications. Monitor performance, address gaps and support delivery of key initiatives.
- Communications, Media & Messaging Oversight
Oversee speeches, briefing notes, media releases and correspondence. Ensure consistent, accurate messaging. Monitor media and community sentiment and support timely communication responses.
- Constituent Services & Community Engagement
Ensure constituent enquiries are managed professionally. Oversee casework, identify emerging issues, support consistent engagement across the electorate and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Financial, Compliance & Office Operations
Manage budgets, expenditure and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with Parliamentary Service requirements. Oversee procurement, travel claims, recordkeeping and office systems.
- Risk Management & Issue Escalation
Identify risks and emerging issues early, provide sound advice to the Member and manage sensitive matters with discretion.
