Queensland Parliamentary Catering Services is seeking a motivated 2nd Year Apprentice Chef to join our dynamic team. Working within the heritage‑listed Parliament House precinct, you'll gain invaluable experience across café, dining, and event catering operations while learning from highly skilled chefs. From preparing fresh café meals to supporting high-profile functions, this role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to develop your culinary career.
Key Objectives
- Support the delivery of high-quality meal preparation and presentation.
- Maintain best-practice kitchen hygiene, safety, and food handling standards.
- Progress successfully through your TAFE apprenticeship requirements.
Your Role
- Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of café meals and function catering.
- Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards across all kitchen areas.
- Follow instructions from senior chefs while developing skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Support stock rotation, storage, and inventory control practices.
- Contribute to a positive kitchen culture by communicating effectively and working as a team.
- Complete all TAFE trade course tasks and assessments relevant to your apprenticeship.
What We're Looking For
- Well-developed oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- General knowledge of catering practices - including preparation, presentation, storage, safety, and hygiene - or the ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to work with limited supervision, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Reliability, motivation, and a genuine passion for developing professional cooking skills.
